Wood as a resource

Quality Raw Material

Quality Raw Material

KOLAR only uses the best quality wood for its production and always purchases sawn timber from sustainable forestry. We document our environmental awareness through PEFC and FSC® certification of our locations.

In-House Drying Chambers

The constant supply of quality sawn timber is the basis of our work. Sawn timber is purchased in board shape. For continual further processing, the wood must have an optimum moisture content for interior construction. For this, wood that is too damp is dried in our in-house drying chamber. A continual measurement and inspection ensures constant moisture content.

Finger-jointing on handrails

Finger-jointing on handrails

For the benefit of a higher material yield, we like to use more manpower. This allows us to use resources as sparingly as possible. Shorter pieces of wood are also used in the production process, which means that a much higher proportion of this valuable material is processed.
Without the possibility of finger-jointing, we would have to dispose of up to 50% of the raw material as unusable waste!

Recycling down to the very last piece of material

The resulting wood waste is used as heating material and the entire production plant including the office space is heated with it. In the transitional periods of spring and summer, any chip residues are pressed into wood briquettes and temporarily stored.
