The Accoya handrail can be used without any surface treatment. Accoya® also turns gray outdoors like other woods.

However, Accoya® wood can be treated by you with most known coating systems. This has been determined through tests with an extensive range of oil and water-based coating systems. Leading coatings manufacturers have found that the durability of their products on Accoya® is at least tripled.
